On October 24, 2025, the Presence Team had the privilege of participating in the Sedibeng District Research Conference, held at North-West University’s Vanderbijlpark Campus. The event brought together researchers, healthcare professionals, and partners to share knowledge and strengthen collaboration aimed at improving healthcare across the district.
Prof. Jeffrey Mphahlele, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, opened the day with an inspiring address highlighting the importance of research, innovation, and partnership in transforming healthcare delivery. Poster presentations in the Tsebenokeng Hall foyer showcased ongoing research and creative solutions addressing key health challenges.
The conference then moved into focused group discussions on four themes: Communicable Diseases, Non-communicable Diseases, Health Systems, and Child and Adolescent Health. Each group created valuable dialogue, shared insights, and explored opportunities for collaboration and improvement.
The Presence DREAM Workshop was a great success, marked by meaningful engagement and a shared vision for stronger, research-driven healthcare. Certificates were awarded to facilitators as a token of appreciation, closing the day on a celebratory note. Future collaboration discussions were also held, paving the way for continued partnership and innovation.
Feedback from attendees revealed that the workshop exceeded expectations, offering fresh perspectives and practical tools to sustain presence and compassion in daily practice. Participants valued the opportunity to reconnect with themselves and colleagues, noting growth in self-awareness, communication, and reflective practice. Many expressed a desire for future sessions, describing the experience as transformative, motivating, and deeply relevant to their work.
The Presence Team is proud to have contributed to such an impactful event and looks forward to building on this momentum as we continue to strengthen health systems and improve lives across Sedibeng and beyond.
